Our Story
Tweed Valley Whey Farmhouse Cheeses Pty Ltd is a small 100% Australian owned artisan dairy business. Family owned and operated by Rob Harnett and his wife Suzanne along with Rob's sister Susan Clarke and her husband Peter.
Rob and Suzanne run the 70+ head dairy herd which supplies the A grade quality milk for the gourmet cheeses. These cheeses are produced on farm in the purpose built premises which comprises of the cheese factory, artisan produce shop, gelato bar and licensed cafe.
The Dairy farm is on the Tweed Valley Way in the Burringbar Valley, just north of Byron Bay. Burringbar is situated at the entranceway to the Tweed which is also known as the Heartland of Australia's Green Cauldron. The sub-tropical climate allows for lush pasture to be grown all year round. Our pasture based grazing system means you taste the freshness in the milk which flows into the flavours of the local terroir in the artisan cheeses.
Our Products
Our artisan produce farmshop sells our range of artisan cheeses, yoghurts and gelato. Our cheese and antipasto platters showcase our cheeses and other artisan producers.
Other Gourmet Delights such as salami's, hand-crafted jams and relishes, art works, local pottery and handicrafts, plus local cards and gift lines are also available.

Our Vision Our Mission
Our Vision is to continue the family tradition of producing great quality milk and cheese as the 4th generation dairy farmers.
Our Mission is to continue the 4th generation family farm using sustainable farming practices and to value add to our A grade quality milk by making gourmet dairy produce. We also wish to promote and gain acknowledgement for the great produce that is grown in the Tweed Valley and to further encourage the sale of local produce.
Our Herd is bred on farm and is a three-way cross of Fresian, Jersey and Brown Swiss. Our pasture based system means our cows have daily access to the lush pastures of the Burringbar Valley situated just north of Bryon Bay at the entrance to the Tweed, also known as the Heart of Australia's Green Cauldron. These lush pastures and our sub-tropical climate add to the great taste and quality of our milk, which can then be handmade in micro batches, to create gourmet artisan cheese, cultured butter and yoghurt.
We look forward to being able to welcome you to our farm to share the produce of the Tweed Valley with you, our Visitors.
Our Farm Our Dairy
Our Farm is located at the entrance to the Tweed Valley in the catchment area known as the Burringbar Valley. We run the dairy farm on 80 hectares as well as an extra 60 hectare block at Mooball. We milk a mixed herd of around 70 head at any one time, consisting of Holstein Fresians, Jersey and Brown Swiss Cattle. We use a small portion of our milk to make our cheeses, yoghurts and gelato and the balance is sent to Norco Co-op Ltd - a farmer owned co-operative. Our family has proudly been continuously supplying Norco with cream and milk for over 100 years.
